Mercury International Staff and Retailers Charitable Foundation Beneficence to Persons with Disabilities at Cotton Tree

From King George's Home, Grafton, and the St Mary's Fatima Interim Child Care Center, Peninsular, Number 2 River, Mercury International Staff and Retailers Charitable Foundation have made their third Corporate Social Responsibility drive, with a donation of food items worth over Ten million Leones to persons with disabilities at the Cotton Tree.

 

The presentation of the items which was done at their base in Freetown, the Company's Public Relations Manager, Alhaji Komba said this is the third donation by the foundation and it is a fulfillment of their promise to do more this year adding that they cannot leave out the persons with disabilities at the Cotton Tree who can be seen at the center of the city.

 

"The Foundation in our continued pledged to help and have a mutual relationship with the less privileged in the country, we will continue with our philanthropic gestures to people who are in need and the community cannot be left out by us," he said.

 

Mercury International Chief of Staff, Ms Dawn Cummings-John, who led the Mercury International Staff and Retailers Charitable Foundation delegation, said the donation is by no mistake adding that the items are of urgent needs of the people.

 

She said: "The Mercury International Staff and Retailers Charitable Foundation donation is always done after consultation for us to know the needs of the beneficiaries; we are humbly presenting these items to you because we know things are not easy and we believe, this donation will put a smile on your faces."

 

In tearful mood, Kadiatu Sillah Chairlady of the persons with disabilities at Cotton Tree Community said they appreciate the timely move made by Mercury International adding they were not expecting such a donation from Mercury International.

 

She said: "We were not expecting this at this time, we appreciate this donation so much we don't know how to express this you and smile Mercury International have put in our faces. Mercury International is the best and will remain the best."

 

Amongst the donated items were 10 Bags of rice, 5 Gallons of cooking oil, 5 Bags of sugar, 5 cartons of Tin Tomatoes, Ovaltine and a carton of milk.

Mercury International Staff and Retailers Charitable Foundation delegation also included the Logistics Manager, Mr Ossama Zayat, Deputy Public Relations Manager, Sahr Morris Jr, Abdulrahman Bangura, and Francis Sesay of the Housekeeping department.
