Police Sergeant Fredrick (full name withheld), a 29-year-old officer in Freetown, played the Mercury Daily Special Lotto draw on Tuesday, September 8 2026, and won a whopping Nle240,000 (Two Hundred and Forty Million Old Leones).

Sergeant Fredrick, who said he has been a loyal Mercury International customer, playing both Lottery and Sports betting games, became the country’s latest millionaire after staking a total of Nle100 on two tickets (Nle50 on each ticket).

According to Sergeant Fredrick, after missing the earlier draw of the day, the Cotton Draw, he decided to attack the Mercury Daily Special draw with double tickets.

“Even though I always forecast numbers from the draws, I was not expecting such a huge win, and I do believe it was my time,” he said, adding that he played three numbers.

The Officer played 12-24-32, and the winning numbers of the Mercury Daily Special Lotto draw Edition 2343 were (32-37-24-10-12, Extra 11-29).

When asked about his plans for the money, the joyful officer, quite composed, expressed that he had no immediate plans, but would decide to invest in a business that will bring forth profit.

“I will continue to live the same quiet lifestyle as if I hadn’t won such an amount,” he said, adding that: “It’s a start in life, so I don’t want to rush and do anything drastic, but whatever I do, for sure I will invest in business.”

Congratulating the winner while presenting the cheque, Mercury International Chief Finance Officer, Mr Ekudayo Rowe, also provided some financial advice to the newest Lotto winner. He said,

Sergeant Fredrick indicated that he has been winning previously and has won NLe 36,000 and NLe 20,000 in both lotto. However, this latest win saw him walk away with NLe 204,314 (Two Hundred and Four Million, Three Hundred and Fourteen Thousand Old Leones) after tax.

Ibrahim Jalloh, a 36-year-old local businessman who resides in Kambia town, has won a total of Seven Hundred Thousand New Leones (700,000.000 old Leones) from Mercury International through its online sports betting product.

The lucky Jalloh revealed he has been playing Mercury football betting games for the past 10 years, and despite winning prizes, this latest win is the biggest ever.

Driving all the way from the Northern Region of Makeni to the Western Area in Freetown, a 31-year-old businessman, Kamara, from Makeni, is the latest millionaire courtesy of Mercury International online football betting.

Known as A.B.K., the young businessman walked away with a total of Le1.2 million (approximately US$50,000), becoming the Company’s biggest single payout winner. 

From the Company’s Walpole Street office, where verification was completed, A.B.K. collected his winning cheque from the Managing Director, Mr Martin Edmond Michael and was quick to say: “This is the biggest win I have ever had.”

“I don’t normally play with many teams. When the games are going on, I follow them and see the teams winning gradually.”

He revealed that instead of placing one massive lump-sum bet, he decided to bank on gradual payouts by selecting just two or three teams, with accumulated odds of three or four points, while he consistently reinvested his winnings as the season progressed.

He said: “I started playing this particular winning set from the commencement of the English Premier League, March week 1 until the final matches wrapped up in week 2, before the funds were safely transferred to my account.

“Early this morning when I woke up, I saw that the money had been fully paid into my account without any shortage,” he added.

Sierra Leone’s top betting operator, Mercury International, continues to demonstrate its prowess by making its second-largest Lotto payout of the year, totalling Nle 4,572,418 (Four Billion, Five Hundred and Seventy-Two Million, Four Hundred and Eighteen Thousand Old Leones) to over 8,000 lottery winners across Sierra Leone.  

This latest payment came following Sunday’s Lotto draws, as both ‘Sunday Special Draw’ and ‘Dove Court Special Draw’ produced a combined winning of 4,338,825 (Four Billion, Three Hundred and Thirty-eight Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand Old Leones). Thanks to the popular ’12- 21 ‘, which dropped in both draws.
